Host a Show
If you'd like to host a Simon Joyner show in your town, please review the hosting requirements below, then provide your details in the form on the right. We will contact you to make further arrangements.
Simon Joyner shows will be confirmed when we know we have around 30 potential attendees willing to pay $10 each. Alternately, hosts can choose to guarantee a $300 minimum fee which would mean a willingness to make up the difference between online ticket sales and door sales, if not enough tickets are sold.
Hosting Requirements
- A willingness to host the show anytime during the 12 days stated for the tour (see the proposed Tour Schedules on the home page). Simon will be traveling by car and the best time to play your city could be on the way out or on the way back. Let us know if there are days that do not work for you.
- A home or alternate space that can hold up to 60 people. Seating for some, floor and standing room for others, in a neighborhood relaxed enough that the police won't be called if a neighbor sees forty or fifty people going into your house for the show.
- A degree of comfort for the guests (heat or a/c if necessary). Non-fluorescent, non-harsh lighting.
- An armless chair for Simon and space for PA he will be bringing. An outlet or extension cord near where he sets up.
- Coolers with ice if hosts choose to make the show BYOB and allow people to drink. If a host prefers that there is no drinking, that's fine. If drinking is allowed, it is up to the hosts to make sure there isn't underage drinking. These shows are usually laid-back and people are usually very respectful but this is something to consider.
- A no smoking policy inside during the show. There should however be an area outside for smoking, with ashtrays. Hosts will need to make an announcement through the microphone before the show begins, telling guests where they should go to smoke, where the recycle bins and trash cans are, where the bathrooms are, and any other expectations or requests they might have of the attendees.
- Someone set up at a table by the door to check people's tickets and take money from people who didn't buy their ticket in advance.
- A decent-sized table for merchandise with a lamp and a chair. Simon is bringing someone to sell merchandise.
